Treating Sunken Eyes and Dark Eye Circles

With advancing age, wrinkles and sagging skin below the eye area can cause concern for many patients. Thinning of the skin, loss of the collagen matrix, pigmentation and dilatation of blood vessels under the eyes give you dark eye circles and your eyes look sunken. These make you look tired and old.

The old treatment for this is to inject fillers along the lower orbital rim. However, many patients complain of lumpiness after repeated injections.

My non-surgical treatment combines a pigment removing laser, together with epidermal and dermal laser modalities to tighten the lax skin. This treatment reduces pigmentation and increases the dermal collagen matrix. By tightening, toning and firming the loose skin beneath the eye, your dark eye circles and sunken eyes are treated to bring your eyes back to its former youthful state.

Non Surgical Eyebag Reduction Significant reduction of your eye bags can now be treated without resorting to surgery. This has long been desired by patients who are bothered by their eye bags but are not keen to risk surgery, surgical scar, bruising and downtime.

Eye bags can often make you look tired and older than your age. Permanent reduction of eye bags will improve this and give you a more youthful appearance.

The old non-surgical treatment for eye bag removal uses fillers to temporarily fill the area below the eye bag, giving the optical illusion of the eye bag being smaller. While botox can be used to treat this with younger patients, this method is not suitable for older patients. Fibre-optic laser technology can shrink eye bag fat for patients with mild conditions. However, some patients see increased skin laxity and more wrinkles below the eye after this procedure.

Using advances in technology and improved techniques over the last few years, Fotona have developed their 4D laser eye treatment. I find this innovative new technique for non-surgical eye bag reduction very rewarding. It uses two different lasers; a dermal collagen stimulating laser and a gentle skin resurfacing laser.

This treatment can be followed with a High Intensity Focused Ultrasound treatment to the eye bag area, further tightening the skin and precisely shrinking the fat faster. The treatment takes less than 30 minutes for visible reduction of the fat bulge under the eye area. Stitching is not required for this procedure and you will not experience any pain or bruising. Recovery time is also very quick.

Non Surgical Eyelid Lift The shape and presence of an eyelid crease enhances the appeal and attractiveness of not only your eyes, but also your entire face. Upper eyelids often droop with increasing age. Sometimes, the double eyelid gets smaller and becomes less visible. Droopy upper eyelids decrease the beauty and attractiveness of not only your eyes, but your entire face. Droopy eyelids can also make you look tired, sleepy and older than your age.

Previously, the upper eyelids could only be treated by surgery. Today though, with the advancement in technology, there are non-surgical options for patients who do not want to undergo the risk, bruising, stitching and downtime associated with surgery.

I find the dermal collagen stimulating laser extremely useful for providing lift to your eyelids. These combination treatments address concerns such as loose eyelid skin, hooding of the outer eyelid skin, and less well defined double eyelid lines.
